[From series: Advent Calendar Countdown]

Back in biblical times, it was customary to don sackcloth and sit in actual ashes during times of great grief. Do you feel like you sit in the middle of a huge pile of cinders that used to be your life? While everyone else celebrates "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" amidst twinkling lights, do you feel like just waking up from your nightmare?

There is a promise made just for you in Isaiah 61. May you hold onto the truth of this assurance by clinging to the LORD who promises. Hope will arise from the ashes because the one who rose from the dead into new life gave you His resurrection LIFE and His resurrection POWER. He is closer than you realize, for you are one spirit with Him. He is always with you and He can heal what breaks your heart.

Everlasting joy is yours. It. Is. Yours. Claim it with me out loud today! Say it often until you believe it!

I am praying for you today! ~ Aleisha

Confession of Hope — December 2

My God is a God of exchange. He promises me that I will  wear a crown of beauty instead of ashes. He promises me joy instead of mourning. He promises me a garment of praise upon my mind instead of a spirit of despair. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, and in me. I am called an Oak of Righteousness. I am a planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

(based on Isaiah 61:1-3)
